Tune of the Day: The Banks of Allan
Traditional Scottish jig
The earliest known appearance of this tune is in a collection published by musician Thomas Calvert in 1799 in Kelso, Scottish Borders.
The river Allan is a tributary of the Firth of Forth that flows through Perthshire and Stirlingshire before it empties into the Forth near the town of Bridge of Allan.
