Tune of the Day: All the Pretty Little Horses
Traditional American lullaby
This traditional lullaby, which many children simply know by the first three words of the lyrics — "Hush a bye" —, comes from the southern United States. As the story goes, the song was originally sung by an African American slave who couldn't care for her own baby because she was kept busy caring for her master's child. However, as the song was transmitted by oral tradition, not much is definitively known about it.
