Blues Scales
The hexatonic (six-note) blues scale is basically a minor pentatonic scale with the addition of a blue note between the fourth and the fifth degrees. That single note creates a typical Blues sound.
Many times it's just the best choice for solo improvisation, and, as long as you play the right notes, there's really no wrong way to do it.
